Billy H. Darnell
Bill H. Darnell was born May 11, 1927 in Ada, Oklahoma to Fred and Ophelia Stovall Darnell. He passed from this life Friday, January 16, 2009 Mercy Memorial Hospital in Ardmore at the age of eighty-one. He served his country in the United States Army in World War II. He married his lifetime sweetheart, Laraine in Yuma Arizona in 1949. They made their home in Ardmore for thirty-seven years. He was the founder and director for eighteen years at the Ardmore Higher Education Center until his retirement. He also served as the Ardmore Literacy Council President, Ardmore Chamber of Commerce Education Committee, Ardmore Public Schools staff Development committee, Ardmore United Way Division Chairman and the Ardmore council for Veterans. He served in various community organizations throughout his life. He loved and served the Lord, his church, his family, and his community his entire life. He was a devoted Christian and attended the Family of God Church in Ardmore. He was loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend and will be missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife of sixty years - Laraine, his children Lynn Brown and husband Steve of Colorado and Steve Darnell and wife Susan of Kingston, Oklahoma, four grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorial services will be at 2:00PM on January 19, 2009 at the Family of God Church with Pastor Jack Scott officiating.
