John "Jake" Roberts

Services for John "Jake" Roberts, 88, of Healdton are scheduled for 1:00 pm Saturday December 19, 2015 at the Bethel Baptist Church in Healdton. Brother Jimmy May and Brother Don Clark will be officiating. Interment will follow at Dixie Cemetery. Funeral services are under the care and direction of Roberts Funeral Home in Healdton.

Jake, as he was known to everyone, was born to John H. and Sarah Roberts on February 2, 1927 on section 31 Oil Lease. He went to be with his Lord and Savior on December 17, 2015 at the Healdton Hospital. Jake married Juanita Mullins on May 1, 1948 in Graham, Texas. They shared 67 wonderful years together. He was in the Navy with the Fire Department during World War II in Guam. He rough necked on drilling rigs, was an Iron worker and delivered propane for Jones Butane Company. Jake and his best friend Jim Russell spent retirement time hauling and selling junk iron. He was an avid fisherman and used to coon hunt with his mule Hack.

Survivors include: three children, two daughters; Barbara Golden and husband Steve of Plain City, Ohio… Alice Hobbs of Healdton, Ok… One son; Bobby Roberts of Healdton, Ok…nephew (who they helped raise) Dink Rose…nine grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild. Also surviving him are two brothers; Gerald Roberts of Healdton…Johnny (Bim) Roberts of Ringling…numerous nephews and nieces.

Jake is preceded by brothers; Jack Roberts and Choc Roberts…sisters; Corene Miller…Ethel Bull…Stella Tarter…Mary Jo Hogue…one granddaughter; Brandi Golden…one great granddaughter; Lexi Hobbs.

Serving as pallbearers will be Jacob Rose…Dusty Sparks…Brian Blackman…Alan Roberts…Paul Fitzgerald…Wes Warrington…Joe Mac Roberts…Jimmy Roberts. Honorary will be all nephews. Family will receive friends Friday evening from 6 to 8 at Roberts Funeral Home in Healdton.
