Wanda Pearlene Bray

Wanda Pearlene Bray went to be with our Lord Friday, April 21, 2017 at the home of her daughter, Robin, in Springtown, TX. Memorial services will be held at Roberts Funeral Home in Healdton, OK on Tuesday, April 25, 2017 at 11:00am with Chaplin Bobby Chapman and Bro. Ron Mefford officiating. Graveside services will follow at Mt Olive Cemetery in Healdton.

Wanda Pearlene Bray was born on June 6, 1936 to Kermit Russell Volkman and Winnie Blanche (West) Volkman in Littlefield, TX. She has the oldest of 4 children. In 1952, she married Robert L. Chapman. In 1960, they adopted Bobby L. Chapman and Judy Ratliff. Their sibling, Tanya Medford, was adopted in 1961. In July of 1973, she married Ernest Bray who had 3 children, Dennis Bray, Robin Ezell, and Danita "JoJo" Wear.

Pearlene graduated from Beauty College in 1957. After graduation, she returned to Muleshoe to work at the beauty shop across from the courthouse. In 1960, she moved to Artesia, NM and owned her own beauty shop. After moving to Healdton in 1973, she owned and operated three businesses, Pearlene's Beauty Shop, Bra Fantastic, and Pearlene's Custom Quilting for 27 years. In 2004, she moved to Bridgeport to take care of her mother and sister.

Those left behind to cherish her memory are her children, son Bobby Chapman of Huachuca City, AZ, son Dennis Bray and wife Terri of Lone Grove, OK, daughter Judy Ratliff and husband Rick of Durant, OK, daughter Robin Ezell and husband Dean of Springtown, TX, daughter Tanya Mefford and husband Ron of Ringling, OK, daughter Danita Wear of Oklahoma City, OK, brother Jerry Don Coulter of Saginaw, TX, and best friend Retha Wilson and husband Jackie of Stratford, OK. Pearlene was blessed with 14 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Ernest Bray, sister, Janie Shipp, sister, Charlene Blaylock, daughter-in-law Laura Chapman.

Pallbearers are grandsons, Chris Ezell, Daniel Ezell, Tyler Wear, Bill Cunningham, James Ratliff, and Jonathan Cortez.
